In my last post, I gave some tips that might help you get started on your homeschool journey. In today’s post, I’ll introduce you to the different homeschooling schools of thought. Don't get too overwhelmed, though. You aren't tied to one of these homeschool types. But it helps to understand what they are because you may find that the likelihood of you fitting into one school of thought might be much higher than another. If you’re lucky enough to figure this out, you can choose a homeschool curriculum based on that type.
These homeschool types may differ in the overall philosophy of education, ideas on testing, the types of learners each is geared toward, the types of learning activities each provide, as well as the types of subjects they prioritize.
First things first. Take some time to learn about the different homeschool styles. I know it can be overwhelming to know where to start, so I've done the leg work for you. You can read about them here and here.

Here’s a bit of advice...don’t get too caught up in the type of homeschool you are or want to be, especially at first. And don’t spend too much time worrying about which is best. Honestly, I think most homeschool styles can be effective for different types of learners. The most important thing you can do is individualize your child’s education to fit his personal needs. If you find that you fall into a certain homeschool style...great! If not...that’s fine, too!
Give yourself some time to do your homework and take lots of notes while researching. Request samples. Join some homeschool groups on social media and ask questions. Find your local homeschool group. The army of homeschool parents will definitely give you their input! Stick with it, even when you are overwhelmed. In no time you’ll be homeschooling like a boss!
